FAQs
Do I address the card to the child or the parents?
Either is absolutely fine. Or you could write to both the child and their parents. Of course, the child isn't going to read the Christening card yet, so it makes sense to address the parents. However, the parents may well keep the card for the child to read when they are older. It really is a personal preference. We've included examples of both below.
How do I structure a Christening message?
Start with a greeting, such as "Dear (Name)", "To my Godson, (Name)", "To (parents' names) and (baby's name) on your special day".
Add the content. See below for ideas. We like to start with a quote and follow up with a nice, personal message.
Close your message and sign off with your name, e.g. "With my/our love and best wishes, (name/s)"

Commission a local calligrapher to write the message for you. We've seen some pretty special Christening cards with commissioned calligraphy writing inside. It really does take the whole thing up a level.
Add a photograph. On my wedding day, a friend took a sneaky polaroid photograph of myself and my husband as we came out of the church, and then popped it inside their card to us. It was such a thoughtful gesture and one I will treasure forever.
