Why shop small business, reason number 327- to make a difference.
One of the best reasons to support small businesses is because of all the good that comes from it. Of course, you get a thoughtful, beautiful, hand-crafted item out of it, but you are also investing your hard-earned cash in some good causes.
Many small businesses are doing their bit to be good humans- us included. Here's what we're doing to make a difference and why we think you should shop with us.
1- We are a living wage employer. That means our staff get paid a fair wage. Check out Living Wage Foundation for more information on why this matters.
2- We are a Plastic Free Champion -that means we have drastically reduced (pretty much eliminated) our use of single use plastics. Our cards are sent out in biodegradable, compostable cello bags and our packaging is plastic free wherever possible.
3- Local suppliers- we order everything we can locally and support other small businesses and local suppliers where possible. Our printing happens at the incredible B.J Press in Truro and our labels come from Helston.
4- Fundraising and donating- yep. We do that too. We once fundraised for a public access defibrillator. We donate paper to local schools and nurseries too. There are also plans in the pipeline for tree planting, but that's currently a work in progress.
5- All the gratitude- ok, full disclosure, we do this weird thing. We thank every single customer as we package up each order ready for posting. By this, I mean we literally say thank you to that customer (only in our heads, not out loud, because that would be weird, right?) We genuinely do this, and we are completely grateful for each and every single order we receive.
