As we start to tiptoe towards the end of summer, that can only mean one thing for thousands of households across the country- exam results day! Exam results have certainly loomed over our house for the last few months, with my son and his friends quietly willing the day to arrive quicker and at the same time wishing it would never get here.
As the mum of a 16 year old who just finished his GCSE exams, I know he's done brilliantly and will be fine, but I feel like I need to have a secret stash of the 'right thing to say' for any outcome. Of course, he worked his arse off for these exams and I have absolutely no doubt at all that he's achieved the grades he needs to move on to college - I feel like I have to make this crystal clear in case he reads this!
But sometimes things don't go quite to plan. Off-days happen, they study the wrong things, inspiration disappears, minds go blank, or maybe the stress gets to them - it's a lot, right?
Whether they've aced their exams or perhaps not quite got the grades they had hoped for, we've got a handy list of message ideas to suit.

Final Thoughts
It's been a long, stressful wait for GCSE results whilst trying to enjoy the summer and not think about their grades- the ultimate test of patience! GCSE exams are no walk in the park, and at no point in the rest of their adult lives will they ever again have to study up to 12 subjects at once or sit multiple exams a day for several weeks.
Whatever their grades, their hard work and determination deserve to be celebrated, because GCSEs are brutal.
