Christmas is such a magical time, but there's something extra special about a baby's first Christmas. If you're wondering, "what should I do for my baby's first Christmas?", or "How can I make their 1st Christmas special?", then you've come to the right place. Here are some of our favourite, most thoughtful ways to celebrate.
A Keepsake Christmas Heirloom Gift
This beautiful personalised knitted blanket from notonthehighstreet is so beautiful that it will surely be kept and passed down the family. This one from Dora Mouse is £110 and available in blue or pink.
Or perhaps a personalised Christmas decoration in a gift box, like this one from Pogofandango, £14.50
We adore this hanging mobile, and think it would make an excellent First Christmas gift. £115 from What a Curly Life, Notonthehighstreet
A beautiful Christmas stocking that can be used year after year, like this one from Enderra Luxury Gifts, from £45.00
Start a New Tradition
- Christmas eve box
Christmas eve boxes usually contain Christmas eve essentials like pyjamas, sweet treats, a book, a game, baking kits etc. This is such a magical tradition, so the first one should be extra special. Start with a beautiful wooden box, there are plenty of personalised ones available on websites like Etsy or Notonthehighstreet.
Fill baby's first Christmas eve box with some of the following:
- A personalised baby grow or pyjamas
- A hardback story book to read to the little one (bonus points if it's pretty, personalised or pop-up)
- A cuddly toy
- A first Christmas journal like this one from Holly & Co, to fill in and pop in the memory box
- A knitted Santa hat (because, well, think of the photos!) I adore this one from Etsy
- A cloth book, rattle or baby toy
Christmas eve box from Notonthehighstreet, £39.95
- A Christmas Family Photo
Start as you mean to go on and take an annual family photo. Maybe even start a Christmas photo album, where you add a new photograph each Christmas.
- Go and visit the Christmas lights
This is such a fun thing to do with all the family! Each year, we go to see the Christmas lights at Heligan, if you're local to Cornwall then I suggest you take a trip to see them, they are truly magical. If you're not in Cornwall, do some research as there are similarly spectacular light shows across the country. It's become our favourite annual tradition.
- Advent
Why bother with a single use advent calendar filled with cheap chocolate and plastic, when you could have a beautiful wall-hanging advent calendar to use year after year? Plus, choosing what to fill it with is the most fun thing ever! This one is from Etsy, £48.00
Baby's First Christmas Cards
One of the nicest ways to celebrate baby's first Christmas is with a personalised keepsake card. Take a look at our first Christmas cards here.
While we're talking First Christmas cards, why not get a pretty photo album to store them after the big day? It's a great way to keep them safe and protect them so that they can be revisited in the future.
What have I missed off the list? I'd love to hear your Baby's First Christmas ideas!
