Valentine's Day is just over a month away now, which means it's the perfect time to start planning some romantic and thoughtful Valentine's Day activities. Here are our favourite romantic things to do on Valentine's Day on a budget.

Read on for budget friendly romantic gestures that are sure to impress.

- Try something new - A few years ago, my husband gave me a pair of roller skates for Valentine's Day and took me to a roller disco. I haven't smiled that much in years! Ok, so roller skates aren't a budget friendly Valentine's gift, but you get the idea. You could go to a roller disco (they have skates there for you to hire), go to the park and fly a kite, hire a stand up paddleboard or go skinny dipping (Disclaimer- I accept no responsibility for you trying these activities. Water is cold and public nudity is frowned upon/probably illegal)

- Pack a picnic and get outside- Take a blanket to sit on, pack your favourite foods and head to somewhere beautiful or meaningful- a beach. a woodland walk or maybe the place where you had your first date

- Have an indoor picnic- If the weather isn't good enough for an outdoor picnic, why not turn your living room into a picnic area? Set a blanket on the floor and enjoy a picnic without the risk of rain, wind or seagulls stealing your sandwiches.

- Write a heartfelt message in a beautiful personalised card- We highly recommend this one (of course!) If you are looking for a unique, thoughtful Valentine's card, check out our collection here

- Cook their favourite meal

- Dance in the kitchen

- Re-create a memorable date- Is there that one date that you always remember fondly? Then why not do it all over again?!

-Go stargazing- take a flask of hot chocolate and some blankets. There are even free apps that will tell you exactly what you are looking at when you point your phone at the sky.

- Play tourists in your home town- Spend the day visiting the local tourist attractions, go to a theme park, the pier, the local museum. Do something you haven't done for ages.

- Cook a meal together- I don't mean you drink wine in the kitchen while they cook, which is what usually happens in our house when I offer to "help" (Sorry, Mr West). I mean, plan to cook something new, follow a recipe and work together to create a delicious meal.

- Make them a playlist (You could even add it to their card, here's a helpful guide on how to do this)

- Swap your favourite books and have a cosy reading night. Snuggle up under blankets and make sure you have plenty of snacks and a bottle of wine.

- Paint pictures of each other

- Watch a film from the year you got together- Pick the biggest romcom from the year you became a couple. Expect cheese, throwbacks and lots of lols.

- Play retro video games together- We have an old Nintendo in the back of a cupboard and every so often we will have a retro games night. It's always so much fun, even though I am terrible at Mario Kart.

- Set up a projector in your garden and watch a movie. This is one of my favourite things to do! Grab some blankets, sit on beanbags and enjoy. It's all the best bits of an outdoor cinema but without other people.

There you have it- 16 romantic things to do on Valentine's Day 2025. Did I miss anything? Let me know in the comments.
